Frequently Asked Questions

Rock & Metal Music Production in London & Essex

I specialise in recording, mixing, and mastering rock and metal bands out of Soundlab Studios in Loughton (East London/Essex border). I work with bands across London and the South East and up to the Midlands, offering everything from full production packages to mixing/mastering only.

Professional Metal Mixing in the UK

You can send me your multitracks remotely, and I’ll deliver a polished, heavy, and release-ready mix. I’ve mixed projects released on Nuclear Blast and worked with hardcore, metalcore, death metal, and rock bands. Just export your stems, send them over, and I’ll handle the rest.

Full Band Production Packages

I provide end-to-end production packages: pre-production, tracking, editing, mixing, and mastering. I also help shape arrangements and tones so your record sounds huge. Bookings are available at Soundlab Studios, which is fully equipped for heavy bands.

Music Promotion Support for Bands

Alongside production, I advise bands on release strategy, social media content, and music promotion. My approach blends creative storytelling with proven marketing tactics to help you reach new fans and get more out of your release.

Genres I Work In

I mainly work in, but not limited to:

  • Metalcore, deathcore, and death metal

  • Hardcore, punk and pop punk

  • Alt-rock, shoegaze and grunge

  • Heavy rock, stoner, doom

Working With Bands Outside London and Essex

Yes. I offer remote mixing and mastering worldwide. You can book in from anywhere in the UK (or beyond) and still get professional production tailored for heavy music. You're also welcome to travel for recording.

How long does it take to mix a song?

Timeframes depend on the schedule and the complexity of the project. With revisions, it can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. A lot also depends on how quickly and clearly feedback is communicated.

How many revisions do you include?

I include 3 revisions as standard, with the option to purchase more if needed. For EPs or albums, the lead single can have up to 6 revisions to make sure we absolutely nail the vision before applying the same approach across the rest of the record.

What’s your process for full production?

When a band books me for full production, I guide the project from start to finish:

  • Pre-production – tightening song structures, click tracks, tones, and arrangement tweaks.

  • Tracking – recording drums, guitars, bass, and vocals with the right blend of energy and precision.

  • Editing & mixing – refining performances, building impact, and giving each song its sonic identity.

  • Mastering – final polish so the release translates perfectly on streaming, CD, or vinyl.

Throughout the process, I keep the band involved so the record reflects their vision while hitting professional standards.

What gear do you use?

It’s not about the gear, it’s about the ear. Years of experience mixing and producing heavy music matter far more than the equipment list. But if you’re curious about specific tools I use, feel free to ask.

Why record at Soundlab Studios with you?

Soundlab Studios is designed for heavy music; high ceilings, proper acoustic treatment, and a powerful monitoring setup. Combined with my experience, you get a space that’s creative, comfortable, and built to capture performances that hit hard. Bands don’t just leave with a record, they leave with an experience that inspires their best work.

How do you price projects?

Each project is different, and tailored to the scope of the job. Get in touch for an accurate proposal based on your songs and goals.

Do you charge per song, per project, or by day rate?

All of the above. It depends on the project. Discounts for multi-day bookings or multiple songs.

Do you offer remote mixing and mastering?

Yes. I can edit, mix, and master for clients anywhere in the world. You just send over the files, and I’ll handle the rest.

Do you help with pre-production?

Yes! I can help tighten arrangements, refine tones, and set up click tracks. This is part of the process once you’ve committed to working with me.

Do you give advice on releases and promotion?

Yes! I provide advice on release strategy, timelines, and content promotion. This is available for clients once they’ve booked in for production or mixing.
